Representative Erica Layon

Erica Layon is a Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives representing the Rockingham 13th district. She is a wife and mother of three boys who brings extensive Wall Street experience to her legislative role in Concord.

Before entering politics, Layon worked as a trader on the exchange floor, serving as an options market maker who completed 100 hours of intensive poker instruction to excel in the trading pits. She later transitioned to working as a medical device analyst, collaborating with company executives and physicians to bring innovative medical technologies to patient care.

Education

Layon earned a BS in Economics from MIT, providing her with a strong analytical foundation for her work in finance and policy.

Political Experience

Layon has served in the NH House of Representatives since 2022. During her tenure, she has held several significant positions:

• Vice Chairman of the Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee
• Chairman of the Derry Joint Legislative Committee
• Chairman of the Committee of Conference for HB1466 and HB1487, where she helped resolve differences between House and Senate on critical legislation

Her legislative accomplishments include drafting and passing a bill to streamline homeschool laws. She also played a key role in developing final language for bills addressing medical privacy and the right to use approved medicines for unapproved uses. Her work on off-label medicine use resulted in clear New Hampshire guidelines for informed consent procedures.

Layon has received national recognition through memberships in the *National Conference of State Legislatures * Rural Health Regional Roundtable and Health Innovations Task Force, as well as the *American Legislative Exchange Council * Task Forces on Education & Workforce Development and Health & Human Services.
