Biography
Senator Eric Lucero is a Republican representing District 30 in the Minnesota Senate, which includes communities such as Rockford Township, Hanover, Saint Michael, Albertville, Otsego, Elk River, Nowthen, and western Oak Grove. He is serving his first term in the Senate after being elected in 2022. Previously, he served four terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022, representing District 30B in eastern Wright County, including Albertville, Hanover, Otsego, St. Michael, and the Wright County portion of Dayton. Born on a U.S. Army base in Germany, Lucero is Hispanic and was one of the first Latino Republicans to serve in the Minnesota Legislature.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Lucero attended Spring Lake Park High School and Anoka-Ramsey Community College . He earned a B.S. and B.A.S. in Law Enforcement and Computer Forensics from Metropolitan State University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. He also attended Century College for Law Enforcement.
Political Experience: Elected to the House in 2014 and re-elected in 2016, 2018, and 2020 as a Republican. Elected to the Senate in 2022 for his first term. He serves counties including Anoka, Hennepin, Sherburne, and Wright. Notable as a pioneering Latino Republican legislator.
