Biography
Eric Gisler
Eric Gisler is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing the 121st district. He has lived in the district since 2003 and grew up in Atlanta. Gisler is originally from Jonesboro, Georgia . In addition to his political service, he works as the Head of Product for an insurance technology startup and owns a local business called The Olive Basket.
Gisler's election to the state house drew national attention as a significant political achievement. In a 2024 general election, he ran as the Democratic nominee but lost to incumbent Republican Marcus Wiedower. However, when Wiedower resigned in October 2025, Gisler ran again in the special election held on December 9, 2025, narrowly defeating Republican challenger Mack "Dutch" Guest IV. This victory was considered an upset, as the district had voted for Trump by 12 points in the 2024 presidential election. Gisler was sworn in on January 8, 2026, by Superior Court Judge Lisa Lott in a ceremony at the Oconee County Courthouse.
Education
Gisler began his college education at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro before transferring to and earning his degree from the University of Georgia in Athens.
Political Experience and Platform
Gisler's campaign focused on lowering costs for constituents and addressing key quality-of-life issues. His platform priorities include expanding healthcare access, particularly in rural areas where hospital closures and service cuts have been problematic, and ensuring affordable housing and quality schools for working people. He emphasizes a collaborative, data-driven, and future-focused leadership style, framing his approach as focused on practical progress rather than partisan divisions.
