Biography
Eric Douglas Ebersole is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 44A . A lifelong resident of southwest Baltimore County and former mathematics teacher for 35 years in Howard County, he was first elected in 2014 and sworn in on January 14, 2015, initially representing District 12 until 2023. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation that became law in 2022 banning seclusion in public Maryland schools after a unanimous House passage on related tracking measures in 2021; serving as Deputy Majority Whip ; and holding leadership roles such as House Chair, Baltimore County Delegation and House Chair, Howard County Delegation . He focuses on education, economy, and environment, and is a member of the Ways and Means Committee , Maryland Legislative Transit Caucus, and others.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Baltimore County Public Schools alumnus; B.S. in Education and M.S. in Mathematics Education from University of Maryland, College Park.
- Teaching Career: 35 years as math teacher, department chair at Reservoir and Marriotts Ridge High Schools; advisor for Student Government Association, National Honor Society, and math team; awards include Senior Class Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Mathematics Teacher of the Year .
- Political Experience: Member, Ways and Means Committee ; Joint Committee on Children, Youth, and Families ; Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus , associate member of Maryland Legislative Jewish and LGBTQ+ Caucuses.
