Biography
Emily Weber is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 24 in Jackson County, Kansas City. Born in South Korea, she was adopted and raised in rural Kansas, later residing in Kansas City, Missouri. First elected in November 2020 with 69% of the vote in a three-way race, she succeeded Democrat Judy Morgan and became the first Asian American Pacific Islander Missouri State Legislator. A graphic designer by profession, Weber serves on committees including Agriculture Policy, General Laws, Ways and Means, and the Special Committee on Tourism. She is involved with the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus, Women in Politics Foundation, and Climate Action KC policy committee.
Education and Political Experience
Weber attended Butler Community College and the Kansas City Art Institute, pursuing studies with a background in communications, marketing, and graphic design. Her path to politics stemmed from activism on issues like unequal pay, gender and racial inequity, and access to health care, drawing from her experiences working multiple jobs and living paycheck to paycheck. Elected in 2020 to represent shared community values, she has provided guest lectures on politics and policymaking, bridging theory and practice. In 2026, she is running for Kansas City Councilwoman in the 4th District At-Large.
