Biography
Emily Dievendorf is a Democratic state representative in the Michigan House of Representatives, serving Michigan's 77th District since 2023. The district includes north Lansing, parts of Lansing Township, DeWitt, DeWitt Township, Watertown Township, Riley Township, Westphalia Township, Eagle Township, northern Oneida Township, most of Grand Ledge, and spans parts of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties. Elected in 2022 and reelected in 2024, Dievendorf serves their second term, sworn in most recently on January 2, 2025. A Lansing resident for 25 years, Dievendorf is passionate about progressive policies, including LGBTQIA+ equality, racial justice, sexual and domestic violence prevention, women’s rights, and HIV/AIDS advocacy. Notable positions include serving on committees such as Agriculture, Regulatory Reform, Criminal Justice, Judiciary, and Economic Development and Small Business Subcommittee on Housing. Prior community roles include Executive Director of Equality Michigan, Chief of Staff to Representative Andy Coulouris, and Co-Owner of a nonprofit bookstore. Dievendorf has also led the Lansing Association of Human Rights as President, served as Vice President of the Firecracker Foundation, been a board member of the Lansing Area AIDS Network, and was federally appointed to the Michigan Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in 2015.

- Education: Graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in social relations; a proud Spartan.
- Political Experience: Over 20 years of leadership in organizing and advocacy; first elected to the Michigan House in November 2022 ; reelected November 2024; current committees include Agriculture and Regulatory Reform.
