Biography

Representative Emilie Krasnow

Emilie Krasnow is a Democratic member of the Vermont House of Representatives representing the Chittenden-9 District, a position she has held since January 2023.

Krasnow was born in Middlebury, Vermont, and grew up in Charlotte before relocating to South Burlington in 2005, where she has resided ever since. Her path to public service was influenced by her father, Gerry Krasnow, who was elected to the Vermont Legislature in 1994. She began her civic engagement at an early age, canvassing door-to-door with her father, which shaped her commitment to community connection and public service.

Education

Krasnow earned her degree from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. She is also a graduate of Emerge Vermont's leadership program and served as an EMILY's List Fellow, both of which helped develop her professional and political skills.

Political Experience

Before her election to the House, Krasnow gained extensive legislative experience working in the Vermont State House for over seven years. She served four years as an assistant in the Vermont Senate and three years in the Lieutenant Governor's office, providing her with a deep understanding of the legislative process before taking office.

In the Vermont House, Krasnow serves as Vice Chair of the South Burlington Housing Trust Committee. She co-chairs the Working Vermonters Caucus and actively participates in the Women's Caucus, Future's Caucus, Social Equity Caucus, and Older Vermonters Caucus. Her legislative priorities encompass climate solutions, social equity, and affordable housing.

Beyond her legislative role, Krasnow remains engaged in community service through her involvement with the South Burlington Rotary Club, the South Burlington Library Foundation, local food shelves, and affordable housing coalitions.
