Biography
Senator Emanuel Jones
Emanuel Davie Jones is a Democratic state senator representing Georgia's 10th Senate District, which includes Southwest DeKalb and Henry County. He has served in the Georgia Senate since his election in 2004.
Senator Jones was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and currently resides in Ellenwood with his wife Gloria and their three children: Emanuel II, Elam, and Emani. He is Baptist.
In the private sector, Jones is the president and owner of Legacy Automotive Group, founded in 1993. The company, which includes Legacy Ford of McDonough and New Legacy Real Estate, is one of the largest African-American-owned businesses in the Atlanta area. Before entering the automotive industry in 1988 as a Ford Motor Company dealer candidate, he held positions at IBM and Arthur Andersen & Co.
Jones has been active in community service, serving as a Trustee and Finance Chairman for Henry Medical Center, Chairman of the Henry County YMCA, and Chairman of Henry County's United Way Campaign. He has also been involved with Partners in Education and served as Chairman of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council.
Education
Senator Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania . He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1980 and rose to the rank of Captain.
He holds an Master of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from Columbia University .

Since 2004, Jones has held various leadership positions in the Georgia Senate, including:

- Secretary of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee
- Secretary of the Interstate Cooperation Committee
- Vice Chair of the Special Judiciary Committee
- Member of multiple committees including Appropriations, Banking and Financial Institutions, Urban Affairs, and Natural Resources and the Environment
Jones has received numerous honors, including the Global Peace Festival Award in Malaysia, recognition as one of Atlanta Tribune Magazine's "Men of Distinction," the Black Enterprise Top 50 Minority Owned Companies Award, and the Freshman Legislator of the Year award in 2005.
