Biography
Eloise Gómez Reyes is a Democratic member of the California State Senate representing District 29 in the Inland Empire region, including cities such as San Bernardino, Rialto, Bloomington, Colton, Fontana, and parts of Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, and Highland.
The daughter of farmworkers, she opened her own law practice after her legal career and is married with one son and a Doberman named Mida.
She was elected to the Senate in November 2024, defeating Republican Carlos A. Garcia with 57% of the vote, and serves as Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Community College: The Hub of the Community.
Notable achievements include serving as the first Latina Assembly Majority Leader , championing AB 2147 for second chances for inmate firefighters, leading legislative sex harassment policy reforms, and authoring AB 685 for COVID-19 exposure notifications.
A member of the California Legislative Progressive Caucus, she previously represented Assembly Districts 47 and 50 .
