Ellen H. McLaughlin

Ellen H. McLaughlin is a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 36th District, which encompasses parts of Augusta and Rockbridge counties as well as the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro. She was born in 1969 in Staunton, Virginia, and has been a member of the House of Delegates since 2023. She is a member of New Beginnings Christian Church in Rockbridge and maintains her residence in Fairfield, Virginia. McLaughlin has five adult children: Michelle Kirby, Ella Branch, Tracy Hibbitts, Amanda Harlow, and Brooke Boyd.

Education

McLaughlin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Averett University. She has also completed advanced professional education through the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, reflecting her background in financial services and business management.

Political Experience

Since joining the House of Delegates in 2023, McLaughlin serves on several key committees:

• Appropriations Committee and its subcommittees on Elementary & Secondary Education and Health & Human Resources
• General Laws Committee and subcommittees on Professions/Occupations, Administrative Process, and Subcommittee #5
• Counties, Cities and Towns Committee
• Rules Committee and its Joint Rules Subcommittee

Additionally, she serves as treasurer of the Rockbridge Shenandoah AFCEA , demonstrating involvement in community and professional organizations beyond her legislative duties.
