Senator Elena Parent ** represents **Georgia Senate District 44, which includes portions of DeKalb and Clayton Counties. Elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2014 , she previously represented Senate District 42 and served in the Georgia House of Representatives for District 81 from 2011 to 2012 after winning in 2010 as one of only 12 Democrats nationwide to unseat a Republican incumbent that year. She has focused on government transparency, ethics, early childhood education, healthcare access, gun safety, environmental policy, and economic opportunity. Notable achievements include serving as Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus , Chair of the Senate DeKalb Delegation, and member of committees on Education and Youth, Judiciary, Appropriations, and Government Oversight.
