Biography
Representative Eleanor Chávez
Eleanor Chávez is a Democratic State Representative from New Mexico representing District 26, which encompasses Albuquerque's Westside in Bernalillo County. She comes from a political family with deep roots in New Mexico—her great grandfather served in the New Mexico Territorial Legislature. A native New Mexican, Chávez has lived on the Westside for decades, where she raised her four children in the Westgate area.
Throughout her career, Chávez has focused on advocating for workers, women, children, families, and educators. She worked as a union organizer for over 40 years, dedicated to improving workers' conditions, benefits, and pay.
Education
Chávez holds a *Master of Social Work * from the University of Washington and a *Bachelor of Arts * also from the University of Washington.
