Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. has represented Pennsylvania's 47th Senatorial District since 2009, covering parts of Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence counties. Born on July 9, 1956, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, he is a fourth-generation dairy farmer who operated his family's farm in New Sewickley Township before entering politics. Prior to his Senate election, he served as a New Sewickley Township supervisor and was elected on November 4, 2008, defeating Democrat Jason Petrella with 56.8% of the vote.
