Biography
Elaine Davis is a Republican state representative serving Tennessee's House District 18, which includes suburbs around I-75 and West Knoxville, such as Amherst, Cedar Bluff, Rocky Hill, Bearden, Sequoyah Hills, Lakemoor Hills, Topside, Mount Olive, and Bonny Kate. Born on July 25, 1967, she assumed office on January 10, 2023, after winning the Republican primary and defeating Democrat Greg B. Kaplan in the general election following redistricting. Previously, in 2020, she ran unsuccessfully for the 13th District, losing to incumbent Democrat Gloria Johnson. Married with three children, she is retired and a Baptist, advocating for infrastructure, public safety, education, healthcare, low taxes, election integrity, job creation, and reducing business costs.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Farragut High School in 1985; B.A. from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville in 1997.
- Political Experience: Serves on the Civil Justice Subcommittee, Ethics Committee, Judiciary Committee, Private Acts Committee, Transportation Committee, and Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Subcommittee. Holds the position of Deputy Republican Whip .
