Senator Elaine Bowers is a Republican representing Senate District 36 in Kansas, which spans 13 counties—including Clay, Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall , Mitchell, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips , Republic, Rooks, Russell, Smith, and Washington—covering over 10,500 square miles and more than 71,000 people in north central, west, and eastern Kansas along the Nebraska border. This is the second-largest district in the state by area. She serves in her third Senate term, first elected to the Senate in 2012.
