Biography
Eddie Day Pashinski is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 121st District, which includes Wilkes-Barre, Wilkes-Barre Township, Ashley, Plains Township, and parts of Hanover Township in Luzerne County. First elected in 2006 after defeating Republican Christine Katsock with 64.9% of the vote, he has served as a passionate advocate for property tax relief, living wages, public education funding, affordable healthcare, and economic recovery efforts. Notable achievements include leading a healthcare reform task force, authoring legislation for grandparents raising grandchildren, contributing to the 2019 PA Farm Bill's Homegrown by Heroes program for veteran farmers, and spearheading flood recovery measures after the 2011 disasters in Luzerne County. He has received "Legislator of the Year" awards from organizations supporting regional interests. Pashinski announced his retirement at the end of his current term.
Education and Political Experience
Prior to his election, Pashinski held key union roles with the Greater Nanticoke Area Education Association, including chief spokesperson, vice president, president, PACE Director, and Region Chairman for the Pennsylvania State Education Association . After retiring from these positions, he entered politics by winning a competitive 2006 Democratic primary. In the House, he has focused on bipartisan consensus-building on issues like healthcare access, education costs, and small business support.
