Biography
Ed Oliver
Edward Banks Oliver is an American politician born between 1955 and 1956, a native of Dadeville, Alabama. He is a member of the Republican Party and has served in the Alabama House of Representatives representing District 81 since 2018.
Before entering politics, Oliver had a distinguished military and aviation career. He served as an aviator in the United States Army and worked as an air ambulance helicopter pilot, later transitioning to work as a pilot for Air Evac Lifeteam. Oliver is married with four children: Amelia, Allison, Abigail, and one other child.
Education
Oliver graduated from Dadeville High School in 1974. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in 1979.
Political Experience
Oliver first ran for the Alabama House of Representatives in 2018, competing in the Republican primary for District 81. He advanced to a runoff against Terry Martin, which he won. In the general election, he faced Democratic nominee Jeremy Jeffcoat and won the November election with a campaign focused on industrial development, economic growth, and education.
Since his election, Oliver has served on several House committees, including former membership on the Fiscal Responsibility Committee and the Health Committee. His district office is located in Dadeville, and his Capitol office is in Montgomery at 11 South Union Street.
