Biography
Ed Larvadain III is a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 26 . A lifelong Alexandria resident and attorney, he assumed office in 2019 after winning election in 2018, succeeding Jeff Hall, and is eligible to serve through 2028. Notable achievements include his work as a public defender advocating for civil rights, criminal justice reform, voting rights, and access to legal representation; he continues his family's public service legacy, as his father, Ed Larvadain Jr., was a civil rights attorney. He serves on key committees like Civil Law and Procedure , House and Governmental Affairs, Labor and Industrial Relations, and the Judiciary Committee, and is active in the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, Democratic Caucus, and Central Louisiana Delegation Caucus.
Education and Political Experience
Education: B.A. in Political Science, Southern University and A&M College ; J.D., Southern University Law Center .
Political Experience: Elected to Louisiana House District 26 in 2019; re-elected since. Prior to politics, worked as a defense attorney and public defender in Rapides Parish, focusing on constitutional rights and indigent defense.
