Dylan Roberts

Dylan Outerbridge Roberts is an American politician and attorney who serves as a Democratic member of the Colorado Senate. He represents Senate District 8, which includes all or part of Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt, and Summit counties. The district encompasses communities such as Steamboat Springs, Edwards, Craig, Gypsum, Eagle, and Frisco.

Roberts is a third‑generation Coloradan born in Denver and raised in Routt County. He began his involvement in politics as a community organizer in Northwest Colorado during Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, which inspired his commitment to public service. Roberts later worked for Obama’s re‑election campaign and for Congressman Ed Perlmutter, as well as for former State Senator Mike Foote and the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.

Roberts has built a reputation as a bipartisan champion for rural and mountain communities, focusing on issues such as lowering health care and housing costs, protecting water resources, supporting small businesses, and improving the cost of living for working families.

  • Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School.

Roberts is also a practicing attorney and currently serves as a Deputy District Attorney for Eagle County, where he works on criminal justice and public safety matters.

Political Experience

Roberts was first elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2017, representing House District 26 . He was re‑elected in 2019 and 2021, serving until 2023. During his tenure in the House, he held several leadership and committee positions, including:

  • Chair of the House Rural Affairs and Agriculture Committee.
  • Chair of the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee.
  • Member of the Agriculture and Water Committee and the Judiciary Committee.

In 2022, Roberts was elected to the Colorado Senate, winning the race for Senate District 8 by a significant margin. He assumed office on January 9, 2023.

In the Senate, Roberts holds the following key roles and distinctions:
