Duy Nguyen is a Democratic Assembly Member representing District 8 in Clark County, Nevada, covering parts of Las Vegas. Born in 1979 in Vietnam, he immigrated to the United States and became the first Asian Pacific Islander to represent the district, which has the largest API population after 2021 redistricting. He was first elected in November 2022, succeeding former Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson, and has served in the Nevada Assembly since 2023, including two regular sessions and two special sessions. Nguyen is bilingual in English and Vietnamese, married to Trang Le, with two children: Leson and Tu-Anh. His occupation is nonprofit executive and small business owner. Notable achievements include founding One APIA Nevada in 2018 to advocate for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities; receiving the Vietnamese-American Community of Las Vegas Community Service and Leadership Award in 2022; and graduating from the National Urban Fellows program as America’s Leaders of Change in 2011. He previously held management roles at Verizon, Cox Communications, and MGM Resorts International.
