Senator Drew Hansen

Drew Hansen is a Democratic state senator representing Washington's 23rd Legislative District, which includes Bainbridge Island. He was appointed to the state Senate in 2023.

Drew Hansen is a trial lawyer who has built a career focused on progressive legislation and economic opportunity. He resides on Bainbridge Island and has worked to expand access to education and workforce development in Kitsap County. As an attorney, Hansen has represented pension funds, small businesses, and others injured by financial fraud and wrongdoing.

Political Experience

Hansen served in the Washington State House of Representatives for twelve years beginning in 2011 before his appointment to the Senate. During his tenure in the House, he held significant committee leadership roles, chairing the House Higher Education Committee from 2014 to 2020 and the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee from 2020 until his Senate appointment.
