Douglas Thomas

Douglas Thomas is an American Republican politician representing the Rockingham 16th district in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Born in Staten Island, New York, he moved to Orford, New Hampshire at age 9. He is married with one child and currently resides in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

Thomas is a retired United States Air Force and Air National Guard veteran. Beyond his legislative role, he serves on the Advisory Board of the Greater Londonderry YMCA, is involved with the Government Affairs Committee of the Derry-Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, and chairs the Londonderry Senior Affairs Committee.

Education

Thomas graduated from Hanover High School in 1968. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Plastics Technology from the Lowell Technological Institute in 1972 and an Master of Business Administration from the University of Montana in 1984.

Political Experience

Thomas was first elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2014 and continues to serve in this role. He currently serves as vice chair of the Science, Technology and Energy Committee.

In recent legislative sessions, Thomas has been notably active in education policy, voting to maintain and expand the Education Freedom Account program through multiple bills, including HB 1683, HB 367, HB 464, HB 1561, HB 1634, HB 1665, and HB 1677. He has also opposed budget restrictions on the Education Freedom Account program.
