Doug Mastriano is a Republican state senator representing Pennsylvania's 33rd District, which includes all of Adams County, most of Franklin County, and parts of Cumberland and York Counties. Born on January 2, 1964, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he is a retired U.S. Army colonel and combat veteran who served 30 years on active duty from 1986 to 2017. He was elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in a special election on May 21, 2019, defeating Democrat Sarah Hammond with 70% of the vote, and was sworn in on June 10, 2019. Notable positions include Chair of the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, Vice Chair of the Education Committee, and memberships on committees such as Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Game and Fisheries, Intergovernmental Operations, and State Government.
