Biography

Doug Dubitsky

Doug Dubitsky was born on November 16, 1962, and is an American politician, attorney, and former stage technician. He has represented Connecticut's 47th General Assembly District since 2015, serving the towns of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Chaplin, Lisbon, Norwich, Plainfield, Scotland, and Sprague. Dubitsky is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves as Assistant House Republican Leader. He was elected to his sixth consecutive term in November 2024. On a personal level, Dubitsky lives on a farm in Chaplin and manages various responsibilities including serving as the Chair of the Chaplin Planning & Zoning Commission.

Education

Dubitsky earned a bachelor's degree in theater arts and film from the State University of New York at Purchase. He later pursued legal studies and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1999.

Political Experience and Notable Positions

Since 2015, Dubitsky has served in the Connecticut House of Representatives, where he has been instrumental in legislative activities. During the 2025 and 2026 legislative sessions, he serves on the Planning and Development, Environment, and Judiciary Committees. He is also a member of multiple caucuses, including the Animal Welfare, Fire/EMS, Conservative, Rural, Sportsmen's, and Tourism Caucus, and participates in the School Safety working group.

Notably, Dubitsky helped lead a lawsuit against restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to his political career, he worked as a designer and technician on television shows, theater productions, and trade shows. He practiced law at Pullman & Comley, LLC in Hartford, where he served as Chair of the firm's Agribusiness & Equine Practice Group. Since 2010, he has been a guest lecturer on Agriculture and Equine Law at the University of Connecticut's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. He also previously served on the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement Board by appointment of Governor M. Jodi Rell.
