Biography
Doug Beck is a Democratic state senator representing Missouri's 1st Senatorial District . He currently serves as Senate Minority Floor Leader, a position to which he was elected by his peers in 2022 and reelected in 2024. A lifelong pipefitter with over 38 years in Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, he is president of the Missouri State Building & Construction Trades Council and advocates for workers' rights, public education, job creation, affordable health care, and public safety. Notable achievements include expanding early childhood education and STEM opportunities on the Affton School Board; sponsoring 2023 legislation for an entertainment/film tax credit and surgical smoke plume removal devices; and receiving the 2023 Labor Advocate of the Year award from the Jefferson County Democratic Central Committee and the 2024 Missouri Nurses Association Legislative Award. Born and raised in St. Louis County, he has been married to Marilyn for 41 years, with two children and four grandchildren.
