Biography

Senator Doron Clark

Doron Clark is a Minnesota State Senator representing Senate District 60 as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. He was elected in a special election in 2025 and currently resides in the Windom Park neighborhood of Minneapolis with his wife and two children.

Clark grew up on a family farm in southeast Minnesota. After his father's death, he witnessed firsthand the importance of community and government support structures. He benefited from free and reduced-fee school lunches during his elementary school years. In 1996, he moved to St. Paul to pursue higher education.

In his professional life, Clark works in ethics and compliance at Medtronic and serves on the boards of his church and Hamline University. He is an active community member who participates in local running groups and has helped organize community initiatives in his neighborhood.

Clark graduated from Hamline University with degrees in Religion and Economics.

Political Experience

Before his election to the State Senate, Clark held several leadership roles in his community:

  • Chaired the community planning committee for Northeast Park, during which the neighborhood developed a new recreation center and ball fields
  • Served as chair of the Windom Park neighborhood board, focusing on securing loans and grants for energy-efficient home improvements
  • In 2020, organized get-out-the-vote efforts through Senate District 60 DFL and helped provide culturally appropriate transportation to the polls for Somali and Oromo-speaking neighbors in Cedar Riverside
  • Elected chair of the Senate District 60 DFL in 2022

Notable Achievement

Clark made history in his special election victory, achieving the largest victory margin and highest percentage of votes in a Minnesota State Senate special election during the primary era. He won with 90.9 percent of the vote, defeating his opponent by 82.2 points—records that shattered previous Minnesota State Senate special election benchmarks.

Senate District 60 encompasses Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis, Cedar Riverside, and the University-Marcy Holmes neighborhood.
