Doreen Y. Gallegos is a Democratic representative for District 52 in the New Mexico House of Representatives, serving Doña Ana County communities including Anthony, Berino, Vado, Mesquite, Las Cruces, and Las Alturas since 2013. Her family has deep roots in the district, with her son representing the fifth generation. As Executive Director of Mesilla Valley CASA, she has secured over $13 million in funding for District 52 families and championed early childhood education, sponsoring the Early Childhood Education & Care Fund now valued at $10 billion. Notable achievements include the FOCUS Award from the New Mexico State Chamber of Commerce , Champion of Medicine Award from the New Mexico Medical Society , New Mexico Excellence in Education Award , New Mexico Whitecoat Award from Burrell College and NMSU , and NMSU Social Work Alumni of the Year .
