Donovan Dela Cruz was born in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He attended the University of Hawaii-Manoa and earned a B.A. in political science. He served on the Wahiawa Neighborhood Board from 1990 to 1994. Dela Cruz was first elected to the state house in 2002, where he represents district 22. Dela Cruz currently serves as the Senate Majority Leader.
