Donni Steele

Donni Steele is an American Republican politician serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives. She was born on December 10, 1964, in Pontiac, Michigan, and is a lifelong resident of Oakland County. She is married to Phillip Steele and has two sons, Max and Colton.

Steele has built her career and public service around commitment to her community. She has been active in various community organizations, including the Orion Chamber of Commerce, Lake Orion Lions, and local school volunteer activities. Her involvement in community development extends to work on the Orion Township Safety Path Advisory Committee, the Polly Ann Trailway Management Council, and the Paint Creek Trailways Commission.

Education

Steele graduated from Lake Orion High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Western Michigan University. She also completed general coursework in business curriculum at Hillsdale College.

Political Experience

Current Position
Steele has represented Michigan House District 54 since 2023, following her election in November 2022. Her district includes the city of Bloomfield Hills, Orion Township, a portion of Auburn Hills, and portions of Bloomfield Township and Oakland Township. She was reelected in 2024.

Local Government Service
Before her election to the House, Steele served the people of Orion Township for a decade in local government roles. She served as an Orion Township trustee for four years and as Orion Township treasurer for six years, where she automated processes, centralized billing systems, and worked to reduce township expenses through wise resource management.

Professional Background
Steele brings more than two decades of small-business experience to her role. She held a real estate license since 1984 and worked as an associate broker at Partridge & Associates from 1987 to 1992. She later became part owner of Coldwell Banker Shooltz Realty in Oxford, where she served as an associate broker and manager until 2007.

Current Focus
In her role representing District 54, Steele focuses on issues affecting residents, particularly infrastructure improvement, and filed to run for the Michigan Senate in the 23rd district in 2025.
