Don Chapman

Don Chapman is a lifelong Anderson County resident and businessman who has been actively involved in his community for more than four decades. He began his civic engagement with the Anderson Rescue Squad in 1980. Prior to his election to the State House in 2022, Chapman served as a Councilman for the City of Anderson for nearly 14 years.
Chapman is a registered architect and founded his own architectural firm in 1994. He has received numerous local, state, and national awards for his architectural designs, including being named the 2018 Small Business of the Year by the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce. Chapman and his wife, Amy, have been married for 28 years and have celebrated 30 years in business together.
Beyond his professional work, Chapman has served on the Anderson Area Transit Study Committee for thirteen years and was appointed to the Anderson County Transportation Committee. He is a member of the Lake Hartwell Association and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Education
Chapman attended Anderson District 5 public schools before self-funding his higher education. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and a Master's degree in Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Political Experience
Chapman was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2022, representing District 8. At the State House, he serves on three committees: Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Environmental Affairs; House Rules; and the Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Cyber Crimes subcommittee.
