Biography

Charles N. "Doc" Anderson is a Republican who represented Texas House District 56 from 2005 until his resignation on August 15, 2024. A veterinarian from Waco, he opted not to seek reelection in 2024 and stepped down early to allow his successor more seniority. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation on school bus safety belts, Jessica's Law, and a constitutional amendment requiring a two-thirds legislative vote to raise the business franchise tax. He chaired the Texas Legislative Rural Caucus, served as vice-chairman of the House Committees on Agriculture & Livestock and County Affairs, and held roles on various agricultural, energy, and small business councils.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Graduate of the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine; practiced as a small animal veterinarian in Waco from 1981 to 2015; recognized as outstanding alumnus of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences in 2014.
