Biography

Dina Titus is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Nevada's 1st Congressional District. Born on May 23, 1950, in Thomasville, Georgia, she grew up in Tifton. Titus has dedicated her career to education and public service, teaching American and Nevada government classes at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for 34 years until her retirement in June 2011. She began her political career in 1988, representing Nevada's 7th District in the State Senate for 20 years, where she served as the Democratic Minority Leader from 1993 to 2008. In 2008, Titus was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District and, since 2013, has represented the 1st District.
