Biography
Senator Dick Anderson
Dick Anderson is a Republican state senator representing District 5 in Oregon, a position he has held since his election in 2020. He serves as the Deputy Republican Leader in the Oregon State Senate.
Anderson was raised in Wallowa County and has lived throughout the Northwest during his career. He is a longtime resident of Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast, where he and his wife Sue purchased their home to retire. Dick and Sue have been married for 50 years and have two children and five grandchildren.
Political Experience
Before his election to the state senate, Anderson served as the Mayor of Lincoln City. His district encompasses all of Lincoln County and parts of Benton, Lane, Douglas, and Coos counties.
Anderson has held several board and committee positions, including service on the North Lincoln Health District Board, the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Board, the Lincoln County Foundation, and the Oregon Coastal Zone Management Executive Committee. Locally, he has been active with the North Lincoln County Community Emergency Response Team , B'nai B'rith Camp, Family Promise of Lincoln County, and the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce. He is an avid golfer.
Professional Background
Anderson spent 35 years working in the financial industry, where he developed a collaborative approach to problem-solving that has informed his public service. After retiring from his financial career, he transitioned into state and local government service.
