Biography
Dianne Feinstein was a Democratic politician who represented California in the United States Senate from 1992 until her death, becoming the state's first female U.S. senator. A San Francisco native, she previously served as the city's first female mayor and on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, where she was the first woman president. Notable achievements include being the longest-serving female U.S. senator in history, championing gun control, LGBTQ rights, environmental protections, and consumer rights; she was the first woman to chair the Senate Intelligence, Rules and Administration, and serve as ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee. She received a record 7.86 million votes in the 2012 Senate election.
