Biography
Diane V. Grendell
Diane V. Grendell is a Republican who has served in the Ohio House of Representatives representing the 76th district, which includes Geauga County and northern Trumbull County. She is a registered nurse and attorney specializing in toxic tort litigation. Early in her career, she worked as a psychiatric nurse before pursuing law school and establishing a legal career at the prominent law firm Jones Day. Beyond her legislative work, Grendell served as an elected Judge of the Ohio Eleventh District Court of Appeals, where she had over 200 cases published by the Ohio Supreme Court and was appointed nine times by the Chief Justice to rule on Ohio Supreme Court cases.
Grendell has been active in numerous community organizations, including the Geauga County and Chesterland Historical Societies, the Chesterland Chamber of Commerce, the Geauga County Farm Bureau, the Ohio Nurses Association, and the Ohio Bar Association. She was also chair of Operation Legal Shield, which provided free legal services to families of northeastern Ohio military personnel during Operation Desert Storm. She has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal District Courts.
Education
Grendell graduated from Baldwin Wallace College and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law .
Political Experience
Grendell served two separate periods in the Ohio House of Representatives:
- First tenure: 1992–2000
- Second tenure: 2019–2022
During her first tenure, she served on multiple House committees, including Children and Youth Subcommittee , Health, Retirement and Aging, Local Government and Townships, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Family Services. She is married to Tim and has two children.
