Biography
Senator Diane Larson
Diane Larson is a Republican state senator representing District 30 in North Dakota, which encompasses Bismarck and Burleigh County. She has served in the North Dakota Senate since 2017 and previously served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 2013 to 2016.
Larson is a retired youth worker from the Bismarck Police Department. She is married to Greg and has two children and four grandchildren.
Education
Larson holds an Associate of Science degree, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Dakota.
Political Experience
Larson first entered public service in the House of Representatives during 1989-90, and later returned for another term from 2013 to 2016 before transitioning to the Senate.
She holds several notable positions and leadership roles:
- Co-Chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures' Law, Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee
- Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Juvenile Justice
- Senate Portfolio Leader for Bismarck State College
- Member of the Interstate Commission on Juveniles and the Governor's Juvenile Justice Advisory Group
- Board member of the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Children's Advocacy Center, and ND Commission on Juvenile Justice
Larson received a Legislator Service Award from the State Bar Association in 2023.
