Biography
Desiree Tims is a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 38 . Elected in 2024, she assumed office on January 6, 2025, after winning the Democratic primary with 71% of the vote and running unopposed in the general election. She serves as Assistant Minority Whip and prioritizes affordable housing, transportation infrastructure, civil rights , economic stability, and protecting Medicaid. Notable achievements include her role as President & CEO of Innovation Ohio and Innovation Ohio Education Fund, where she advances equity through coalitions and leadership; past White House internship under President Obama; aides to Senators Sherrod Brown and Kirsten Gillibrand ; President of the Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus; media appearances on MSNBC, Fox News, and others; and a prior grassroots congressional campaign for Ohio's 10th District that gained national recognition. Born in Dayton, Ohio, she graduated from Dunbar High School in 2006 and is the first in her family to earn a four-year college degree.
