Derrick Hall is a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, serving District 34 since 2025. This district includes Hudson, Stow, Tallmadge, Silver Lake, Munroe Falls, and portions of Akron. He is currently in his first term, serving as ranking member of the House Insurance Committee and on the House Medicaid, Energy, and Veterans and Military Development committees. Notable achievements include his prior role as president of the Akron Public Schools Board of Education , where he negotiated teacher raises, enhanced school security, and approved plans for a new school. Hall also serves as a U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General officer and works as Assistant Vice President of Accountable Care and Payment Innovation at Integra Connect. His priorities include strong public education, small business support, property tax reform, healthcare access, environmentally friendly energy policy, and senior services. He grew up in public housing in Akron, lives in West Akron with his wife and two daughters, and has served on boards for Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Akron, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, and Scouts BSA.
