Biography
Dennis Paul is a Republican representing Texas House District 129, which encompasses parts of southeast Harris County including cities like Houston , League City , Pasadena , Pearland , Seabrook, Webster, and others. Born on March 29, 1961, in Houston, Texas, he is a lifelong Texan, small business owner, and the only Professional Engineer in the Texas Legislature. He founded Paul Engineering Inc. in 2002, specializing in structural engineering. Paul is married to Eliza Ching since 1987, and they attend St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houston. He is running for Texas Senate District 11.
Education and Political Experience
Paul holds a B.S.C.E. and M.S.C.E. in civil engineering from the University of Houston, with a specialization in structural engineering; he received the Cullen College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award and was elected to the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Alumni Academy.
First elected to the Texas House in 2014 , he is currently in his fourth legislative session as of recent records. He serves as Treasurer of the House Republican Caucus, Vice Chair of the House Higher Education Committee, and on committees including Insurance, Local and Consent Calendars, Transportation, Natural Resources, Pensions, Homeland Security, and Public Safety.
Notable achievements include championing the Galveston Bay Storm Surge Protection Barrier, leading to the 2021 Gulf Coast Protection District for collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; founding and chairing the Texas Legislative Aerospace Caucus to boost the aerospace industry, including Ellington Spaceport development.
