Biography
Dennis C. Gallagher is an American politician serving as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 8th Plymouth District. He represents the towns of Bridgewater and Raynham in Eastern Massachusetts. A member of the Democratic Party, Gallagher was elected to the state House in 2024 in a closely contested race. Prior to his election to the legislature, he served nine years as a town councilor in Bridgewater, where he gained experience in local governance and community issues.
Gallagher has lived in Bridgewater for over two decades and previously grew up in neighboring East Bridgewater, graduating from East Bridgewater High School. He brings a background that blends military service, public administration, and community leadership to his legislative work.
Education
Dennis Gallagher served in the United States Navy from 1981 to 1985, after which he was honorably discharged and remained in the inactive reserves for two additional years. He then attended Worcester State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications in 1989. During his time at Worcester State, he also served as class president for all four years. He later pursued graduate studies, completing a master’s degree in public administration from Suffolk University’s School of Management in 1996.
Political Experience
Gallagher’s political career began at the local level with nine years of service on the Bridgewater town council, where he worked on municipal budgets, public safety, and community development. His 2024 election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives marked his entrance into state politics. As a newly elected representative for the 8th Plymouth District, he has begun sponsoring proposals related to tax exemptions and local economic policy, reflecting his focus on practical, community-oriented governance.
