Biography
Delbret R. "Del" Taylor is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 84 in St. Louis City. Elected to his first term in November 2022, he serves on key committees including Budget, Utilities , Ways and Means , and the Substance Abuse Prevention & Treatment Task Force. Notable achievements include the 2023 Friend of Higher Education Award from the UMSL Alumni Association for his support of education. Born and raised in St. Louis's West End neighborhood, Taylor has over 30 years of experience as an engineer, international business consultant, and business leader, assisting global corporations like AIG, FIJI Water, Ford, GM, New York Life, and Seagate in improving supply chains and financial systems. He is a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and active in the National Black MBA Association, National Society of Black Engineers, Sierra Club, Indivisible St. Louis, Missouri Healthcare for All, and Show-Me Integrity.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Attended St. Louis University High School and Dozier Elementary; earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society; obtained an MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, including a semester studying international business in Bangkok, Thailand.
Political Experience: Prior to politics, worked one year with a local telephone company and three years building water treatment equipment. First elected to the Missouri House in 2022; currently Ranking Minority Member of Subcommittee on Appropriations - Agriculture, Conservation, Natural Resources, and Economic Development; Member of Interim on Property Tax Reform and Property Tax Reform.
