Biography

Debra Altschiller is a Democratic state senator representing New Hampshire Senate District 24, which includes the communities of Exeter, Greenland, Hampton Falls, Hampton, North Hampton, Rye, and Stratham. Born on June 1, 1968, she resides in Stratham, is married to Howard, and has three children. She works professionally as the Community Liaison for New Hampshire’s largest violence prevention and crisis support center, advocating for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking since 2012. Notable achievements include the 2024 Legislator of the Year award from NAMI NH, 2024 Champion for Gun Safety Legislator, 2023 Legislative Champion Award from the National Coalition on Adult Basic Education, and the 2021 Unity Award from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs NH. She prime-sponsored New Hampshire’s Red Flag Law in 2019 and serves on the NH Suicide Prevention Council, Oversight Committee for Education Freedom Accounts, and National Alliance for Mental Health Public Policy Committee.
