Debbie Wood

Debbie Wood is a former Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives representing District 38 from 2018 to 2025. She previously served four terms on the Chambers County Commission, becoming the first woman elected to represent District 6 and the first female chairperson.

Debbie Hamby Wood was born on May 25, 1965 , in Valley, Alabama. She is married to Bobby Wood. A small business owner, she has operated Century 21 Wood Real Estate in Valley since 2000, following roles as a sales associate at Valley Realty. Wood entered politics in 2002, winning election to the Chambers County Commission for District 6 against the county commission chairman. She served four terms, including as the first woman to chair the commission. In 2014, she was honored as President of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama and later appointed to the National Association of County Officials Board in Washington, D.C. Wood won the Alabama House District 38 seat in 2018 after a narrow primary runoff victory, defeating Democrat Brian McGee in the general election. She served on committees including County and Municipal Government , Lee County Legislation, Ways and Means Education, and Urban and Rural Development. Wood resigned from the House in July 2025 after relocating to Florida.
