Biography
Debbie Sariñana is a Democratic member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 21 in Bernalillo County, which includes parts of Albuquerque. She has served since 2017 after defeating the incumbent in the 2016 Democratic primary. A retired educator and former U.S. Air Force Reservist , she taught mathematics and science for over 20 years in Albuquerque Public Schools, achieving National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics in 2012. Notable achievements include chairing the Science, Technology & Telecommunications Interim Committee since 2019, serving as Vice-Chair of the House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committee, and co-chairing the National Leadership Council of Elected Officials to Protect America , where she also directs EOPA-NM focused on water and climate issues. She is a single mother of three adult children and four grandchildren.
