Biography
Deborah "Deb" Krishnadasan is a Democratic State Senator representing Washington's 26th Legislative District, which includes Gig Harbor, Key Peninsula, Port Orchard, and Bremerton. Appointed to the Washington State Senate on December 11, 2024, to replace Emily Randall, she won the special election in November 2025 against Republican Michelle Caldier. A lifelong Washingtonian, she focuses on education, public transportation, infrastructure, and economic affordability, including sponsoring a bill to lower the voter approval threshold for school bonds from 60% to 55% and voting against tax increases in the state budget.
Education and Political Experience
- Elected to the Peninsula School District Board of Directors in a 2015 special election for District 2; re-elected unopposed in 2017.
- Served as President of the Peninsula School Board from 2018-2021 .
- Founded Stand Up for Peninsula Schools advocacy group; led successful levy campaigns in 2016, 2020, and 2023, and a 2019 bond measure—the first in nearly 20 years—funding four new elementary schools and expansions to two middle schools.
- In the Senate, serves as vice chair of the State Government, Tribal Affairs & Elections Committee, Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee, and Transportation Committee; member of Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee.
- Notable achievements include Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year *, *Hugh McMillan Award from Peninsula School District *, and *Community Leadership Award.
