Biography
Deb Andraca is a Democratic representative for Wisconsin's 23rd Assembly District, which includes the communities of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Mequon, River Hills, Thiensville, and Whitefish Bay. Born on April 10, 1970, in Springfield, Massachusetts, she has lived in Whitefish Bay with her husband Marc and two daughters for over 20 years. Elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2020, her campaign made history in the district. She serves on the Joint Finance, Education, and Forestry, Parks and Outdoor Recreation committees and was appointed by Governor Evers to the 2022 Blue Ribbon Commission on Veteran Opportunity.
Notable achievements include awards such as 2024 Friend of Family Medicine , 2023 Wisconsin Legislator of the Year , 2023 Milwaukee County Legislative Champion , and 2022 Legislator of the Year .
Education and Political Experience
- Education: BA in Political Science and Public Relations from Syracuse University; obtained her teacher's license part-time from Alverno College in 2018.
- Professional Background: Longtime community volunteer, including PTO president at Cumberland Elementary, leader of two Girl Scout troops, fundraiser for the Urban Ecology Center, and Milwaukee-area leader for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense. Transitioned to teaching third-grade math at Bruce Guadalupe Community School and as a substitute in Whitefish Bay School District.
- Political Experience: First elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2020, representing District 23 as a Democrat; active in committees focused on finance, education, and conservation.
