Biography
H. Dean Proctor is a Republican politician from Hickory, North Carolina. He served as a member of the North Carolina Senate from August 15, 2020, to January 1, 2025, representing the 42nd District and the 45th District , which includes all of Catawba County and part of Caldwell County. A retired beverage wholesaler and executive of United Beverages, Proctor emphasized faith, family, and hard work, running a successful family business that created jobs. He was married to his high school sweetheart, the late Brenda Bowman Proctor, with whom he raised two daughters in Hickory; he remains active with his five grandchildren. Notable achievements include chairing the Hickory Baseball Fundraising Committee to build L.P. Franz Stadium for the Hickory Crawdads, chairing the Catawba County Economic Development Commission, and prior service on the North Carolina Department of Transportation board and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission board. He holds pro-life views, supports Second Amendment rights, opposes sanctuary policies, and volunteers with the NRA and community organizations.

- Political Experience: Appointed in August 2020 by Catawba and Alexander County Republican leaders to fill the vacancy left by Andy Wells in the 42nd District; won the March 2023 primary against former state representative Mark Hollo to retain the seat .
