Biography
Dean Black
Dean Black is a Republican representative from Jacksonville, Florida, serving in the Florida House of Representatives for District 15. An eighth-generation Northeast Florida native, he resides on his family farm in Nassau and Duval counties with his wife Kim. He has five children: Nathan, Savannah, Hunter, Alanna, and Silas, and two grandchildren.
Black is a small business owner and cattle rancher who has owned and managed businesses for more than 25 years, handling budgets exceeding $3.5 million annually and employing hundreds of workers. He is a proud Air Force veteran who served from 1989 to 1995 and was a member of the 125th Fighter Wing of the Florida Air National Guard.
In his personal platform, Black advocates for conservative principles including constitutional protections, limited government, Second Amendment rights, lower taxes, school choice, and support for law enforcement.
Education
Black earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Mississippi in 1988.
Political Experience
Black was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2022 and subsequently reelected. He serves on multiple committees, including as Vice Chair of the Education Administration Subcommittee and member of the Health & Human Services Committee, Agriculture & Natural Resources Budget Subcommittee, Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee, and several other legislative bodies.
Prior to his legislative service, Black served as Chairman of the Republican Party of Duval County since 2018. He was an official delegate to the 2020 Republican National Convention and served as a campaign surrogate for President Trump. He also ran as the Republican candidate for the United States House of Representatives, District 15, in 2024.
