Dayan “Day” Hochman-Vigil is a Democratic State Representative for New Mexico House District 15, covering Bernalillo County’s North Valley, parts of Albuquerque's Northeast Heights, and the Village of Los Ranchos. A lifelong New Mexican born and raised in Santa Fe, she is an accomplished attorney specializing in aviation and space law, elected in 2018 and serving since 2019. Notable achievements include leadership in criminal justice reform, government transparency, healthcare access, and child protection; she sponsored key bills like a 2019 anti-terrorism expansion, a 14-day firearm waiting period, the 2025 independent Office of Child Advocate, caregiver background check reforms, and Children’s Advocacy Centers. She currently serves as House Majority Whip , member of the House Judiciary Committee , and Chair then member of the Transportation, Public Works, and Capital Improvements Committee. Recognized as one of Albuquerque Business First’s “40 Under 40” in 2021.
