Biography
Dawn Fantasia is a Republican Assemblywoman representing New Jersey's 24th legislative district, serving since January 9, 2024, alongside Senator Parker Space and Assemblyman Mike Inganamort . Born January 2, 1974, she is the principal of Bergen Arts and Science Charter School in Garfield, New Jersey, and a lifelong educator. A resident of Franklin Borough, she raised three children as a single parent and enjoys target shooting, hunting, fishing, clamming, and farming. Notable achievements include being the first woman to represent the 24th district since 2018, winning election in 2023 and re-election in 2025 in the solidly Republican district. She co-chairs the Angling, Hunting, and Conservation Caucus, and serves on the Manufacturing, Disability, and American-Irish legislative caucuses.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Wallkill Valley Regional High School in Hamburg; earned a bachelor's degree in 1995 from Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia; completed a master's in educational leadership in 2014 from Capella University on a working mother scholarship. Named Teacher of the Year in 2010 at Bergen Arts and Science Charter School.
- Political Experience: Began public service in 2014 on Franklin Borough's planning board, zoning board, and economic development committee; served on Franklin Borough Council , including as president in 2018; Sussex County Board of County Commissioners . Elected to the General Assembly in 2023 after incumbents' retirements; re-elected in 2025. Volunteers to help seniors and veterans; elected to the Sussex County Republican Committee.
